About
Iwholesalexpress is an e-commerce store specializing in wigs and other beauty products. Previously, they sold their products exclusively on the Alibaba platform, but now they aim to establish their own independent e-commerce store.
Design Goal
Customers want to migrate from Alibaba to Shopify and establish an independent store to better serve both wholesale (B2B) and retail (B2C) customers. On the original platform, wholesale and retail were mixed, leading to the following issues:
Wholesale/Retail Program
Wholesale customers cannot find the minimum order quantity (MOQ) and bulk discount information, increasing communication costs.
efficiency
Ensuring that different user groups can quickly find the right products and pricing, thereby enhancing the purchasing experience.
Site Map
To clearly distinguish the shopping experiences for wholesale (B2B) and retail (B2C) customers, I redesigned the site map to ensure that different user types are directed to the appropriate shopping paths and see the corresponding pricing information.
Price Access Control
Retail customers cannot see wholesale prices, while wholesale customers can directly view the MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) and bulk discounts.
Consistent Shopping Experience
Both wholesale and retail customers follow the same shopping and checkout process, reducing the learning curve and enhancing ease of use.
Before moving into the UI design phase, I quickly sketched wireframes on paper to visually map out the core page structures. This approach helped ensure a well-organized information architecture.
Key Solution
During the implementation of the wholesale system, I worked closely with the development team to ensure that the Shopify store could efficiently manage wholesale operations.
By collaborating with the engineering team, we successfully optimized the plugin, enabling merchants to efficiently manage wholesale customers, prevent pricing discrepancies, and enhance the overall shopping experience.
Upon logging in, retail customers see only the retail price on product pages, while wholesale customers see both retail and wholesale prices, ensuring tailored pricing for each group.
Final Delivery
After confirming the final decision with the client, I focused on responsive design and thoroughly tested it before delivering it to them. I uploaded the first three products and guided the client on managing retail and wholesale customers, as well as updating images, information, and content. Ensuring they could confidently manage and maintain the website independently.

Communication, working with constraints, and user research
I learned a lot through this project. learned how to best communicate with clients and navigate through design ideas and decisions.
Working on this project also taught me a lot about user research. I got to experience actively applying the things we learned to the choices we made on user experience and interaction patterns.
Additionally, I also Improved my problem solving skills becase of this project, which gave me the experience of working with real, technical constraints.
